Starcraft 2 Strategy: Using Zerg Creeps

For zerg players, it’s a sad fact that creeps are one of the most underrated parts of the game. Inexperienced zerg players overlook the chills as they focus too much attention on direct combat. In the higher level Diamond Stairs, creeps are often used due to the huge strategic benefits they provide to the Zerg player. First, Zerg units gain a 30% movement speed increase. Second, the enemy cannot build directly on the creeps and this helps control their expansion. Third, the chills give us a line of sight to see what the opponent is up to and be more prepared for whatever Starcraft 2 strategy they may be using. Fourth, you can use the creeps to build Spores and Spine Crawlers anywhere on the map you want.

Now we will discuss about the ways to spread the chills. Most high-level zerg players manage to cover large portions of the map with creep late in the game. Although they have to keep focusing on the enemy and direct combat, they manage to do so using a very simple strategy from Starcraft 2. They use Overlords to spread chills wherever they go. To do this, upgrade to a Den. This grants Overlords the ability to spread creeps automatically. You can now activate this ability to have the Overlords spread the chills wherever they stop. This makes it extremely easy for us to spread the chills and we can rejoice as it is absolutely free!

It is advisable to send your Overlords to empty bases and wait for the enemy to expand. When they reach the empty base, they can kill your Overlords, but your creeps will persist for 30 seconds or so, giving you enough time to study the enemy and prevent it from instantly expanding.
