A brief summary of Toyota’s new hybrid cars for 2012

Hybrid cars have been and continue to be a hot topic among the auto industry and for good reason.

They’re not as bad for the environment as regular gas guzzlers, and they get a much higher mileage for every gallon. The main problem consumers had with hybrid models was that they didn’t have a large selection of cars to choose from.

Toyota is changing all that with six new hybrid models planned for 2012. See our predictions for the models they’ll pick.

Tea toyota highlander it’s a lot of people’s favorite vehicle, so when they launched the Highlander Hybrid model a few years ago, it got a lot of people excited. Well, now they’re creating a hybrid model of one of their best-selling SUVs, the Rav4. For 2012 we’ll see an all-electric version of the Rav4 that rivals the Ford Escape Hybrid and hopefully delivers the 30 mpg the Escape currently gets for its money. Toyota developed this car with Tesla, so it may have some of the same features as the Prius.

Toyota Sienna Hybridit’s what the minivan market has been looking for for years and now Toyota offers it. The only question is: Will the Sienna arrive before the Honda Odyssey Hybrid, which is supposed to launch in the next few years? The family van market is a big niche to watch, and when the Sienna Hybrid launches, people will be very excited to see it.

Tea Toyota Yaris it is currently being developed for the Japanese market, so bringing it overseas to the United States is not a difficult task. The Yaris was one of the best sellers because people are beginning to care more about the gas mileage of their car than how much horsepower it has and what it looks like. Many people are already calling the Yaris the “Prius Jr.” which is a great car to partner with.

HAS Toyota Corolla Hybrid it just makes sense to us. In a market where hybrids are not yet as mainstream as many believe they should be, creating a Toyota Corolla Hybrid may be just what is needed to bring hybrids to the forefront of car buying. The creation of a hybrid Corolla will put gasoline-electric technology squarely at the heart of the Toyota brand.

The last two hybrids announced are Lexus Hybrids which makes choosing them a bit more difficult. They already have four hybrid Lexus models on the market already and the CT200h should be hitting the US market in 2011. If it does, that’s one model catered for and the other could be a fast sport utility vehicle to complement the CT200h.
