Domo Arigato, Mr Roboto – How Forex Robots Can Improve Your Trading

“Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto.” Translated, this means; Thank you very much, Mr. Robot. If you’re old enough, you’ll recognize this as a classic STYX song. How many times have you found yourself at least able to repeat the chorus, learning some Japanese in the process?

The lyrics continue: “I’m not an emotionless robot, I’m not what you see. I’ve come to help you with your problems so we can be free. I’m not a hero, I’m not a savior.” Forget what you know I’m just a man whose circumstances were beyond his control Beyond my control We all need control I need control We all need control (Thank you so much oh Mr. Roboto For doing the jobs no one wants) Domo Arigato , Mr. Roboto (And thank you very much oh Mr. Roboto For helping me escape just when I needed it)”

While all of the above may not be relevant, I chose this song to illustrate how a robot would help you in your Forex trading. A robot, more commonly known as an EA or “Expert Advisor”, would do the job that no one wants or can do. Robots have been around for several years and can be obtained by searching for a “Forex trading robot” or “expert advisor”. I’ve tried many of them, with some success, but I could never afford the kind of account that would allow a virtual private server, or VPS, that would allow me to shut down my computer in the middle of an operation. A VPS would be ideal for hosting the EA remotely so you wouldn’t leave your computer on all the time, making it more susceptible to hacking and intrusion. I am almost convinced that this was the cause of a recent hack into my system and I have discontinued the practice of leaving it on all the time. For an account size of $2000 or more, you can get free VPS from various brokers, notably FXCM. Not many people who want to get involved in Forex trading can afford to sit in front of their computer and watch the candles go up and down. Most of us have a day job, although that might be a point of debate in this economy. When you are done with your daily work, it seems interesting and adventurous to go home and trade at night. Don’t you sometimes need, as the above letter suggests, to escape? Forex trading can be that kind of escape, full of danger and excitement.

As the first part of the song also suggests, the need for control motivates most forex traders to sit and stare at their screens, fearful that sudden news could wreak havoc on their positions. Sitting and staring at the computer screen for hours, happy when the graph goes up and worrying when it goes down. It is in this sense that the song has another message.

“I have a secret that I’ve been hiding under my skin. My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain is IBM. So if you see me acting strange, don’t be surprised. I’m just a man who needed someone .and a place to hide”

All of us are, in fact, human. When, in the fast-paced world of forex trading, something external occurs, we tend to react as humans do, with emotion. Forex robots help the individual trader, who wishes to remain human with his blood boiling, to avoid the mistakes that invariably occur in these circumstances. When your heart is human but your blood is boiling, you can thank your lucky stars that your “brain” is your robot. It does not know any emotions and only trades. Improve your trading today.
