Ford F-Series – February 2007 Best Seller

Following reports published by different automakers for the month of February this year, Reuters compiled a report showing which models American motorists bought the most last month. The main source of information for the financial markets reported the twenty best-selling vehicles during the month of February.

At the top of the leader board is the Ford F-Series which sells 100,170 units. Although that number is lower than last year, it is enough to put the F Series at the top of the scorecard. The Ford F Series is also the leader in terms of sales during the month of February last year. The second place is occupied by Chevrolet Silverado, which registered a sales figure of 97,089 units, 14.9 percent more than its production last year. The Silverado remains unchanged in second place from last year.

After the two vehicles from domestic automakers, they are closely followed by three vehicles from Asian brands. Taking third place is the Toyota Camry. Toyota sold 63,609 units of the Camry last month and the model also retains its third place on the leaderboard. Following the Camry is the Honda Accord, which jumps from fifth place last year to fourth place this year. Honda sold 56,084 units of the Accord last month, an increase of 18.5 percent from last year during the same period. Jumping up to fifth place is another Toyota model, the Corolla. From sixth place last year, it now ranks fifth because Toyota sold 53,840 Corolla units.

The Dodge Ram, last year’s fourth best-selling vehicle for the month of February, ranks sixth with 53,012 units sold. Seventh place is now occupied by the Chevrolet Impala, which made a huge jump from its previous position of 13th due to a 29.3 percent increase in its sales figure last month compared to February 2006. Chevrolet sold 52,200 Impala units. The next vehicle on the list is the Nissan Altima, which moved up one spot from ninth last year to finish eighth this year. Nissan sold 46,508 units of the Altima.

Taking ninth place this year is the Honda Civic. It fell two places due to the fact that Honda sold 22.4 percent fewer Civics in February of this year compared to last year. Sounds like Honda needs to hit the brakes on the Civic’s downward slide. Rounding out the top ten best-selling vehicles for the month of February is the Dodge Caravan. From 12th place in February of last year, the Caravan rose to 10th place when Dodge sold 34,968 units of the vehicle.
