Kanye West is well-known as the co-writer, performer and designer of the hit albums ‘Yeezus’ and’Cruel Long Live’. As a solo artist, he has released four albums – last year’s ‘Yeezus’ featuring several guest spots by big name rappers including Jay Z, Rihanna, Nas and Biggie Smalls and this year’s ‘Run The World.’ He is also executive producer on several other tracks as well. West has always been somewhat of a controversial figure in the music industry as many refused to accept his sexuality and instead claimed that he was a pretentious artist who was only interested in self preservation.
The controversy escalated when West was accused of plagiarizing rap song lyrics for’808s & Heartbreak’ when the sample was from a song performed by Nelly. West eventually came clean about his plagiarism accusations, saying that he had ‘never plagiarized a song’. Despite this he was stripped of his American Music Awards and forced to leave the Combs Hall of Fame and he is yet to appear on any of the American Music Awards list.
Kanye West is currently going through a very public divorce from wife Kim Kardashian. In January, she filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and that the relationship was approaching its end. Although no details have been given, sources say that the couple is still in love and are expected to patch things up soon. The marriage has been a long standing marriage for West and Kardashian and they have a son together called North. It is believed that the reason that West went into a recording studio and did not record a new album was to finish out the divorce proceedings. Some say this is because he was stressed over the fact that there were too many lawsuits between his wife and him regarding their child.

With all the hubbub surrounding his recent publicity stunts it is easy to forget that West is actually a quiet person. A few years ago, West was arrested after pulling over in a friend’s car while speeding and driving erratically. He was taken into custody and later sentenced to two days in jail. Many fans are wondering if Kanye has mellowed as he has gotten older, but he has not, in fact, mellowed.
This is the type of artist that keeps his cards close to his chest. West graduated from high school in 1994 and he never made an attempt to publicize his accomplishments or talk about his album. He kept his work and designs very private, probably knowing that the world would eventually talk about them. He may have been right.
