XBOX 360
Xbox 360 is a second version of Xbox consoles which was released in the year 2005. Xbox 360 came with improved processing speed and huge storage capacity. The heat sinks provided on the motherboard do not provide enough airflow or do not provide enough cooling for the processors. This issue caused the console to overheat. Heat sink issues are caused by flaws in the console’s design. The console was not designed properly and there was not adequate testing on the components when it comes to long hours of gaming.
RED LIGHT ERROR
Overheating is a hardware issue and is indicated by a power ring on the console. The power ring has four quadrants of LEDs that will indicate the status of the console. So when your console gets hot, it will glow red, indicating that the console has a problem. The errors can be one, two, three or four light errors. Each set of lights refers to a particular problem on the console. When three red lights come on, your console is in big trouble. This error is displayed on the screen as E 74. This error is very serious and could damage the entire motherboard if not fixed at the right time. The three red lights bug is known to gamers as Red Ring of Death or simply RRoD.
MICROSOFT SERVICE
When many reported about the hardware failures and therefore Microsoft will repair your console if it enters the warranty period for free at its service centers. But, if it is expired, you need to bear the repair cost. One more drawback is that you have to wait 4-8 weeks to get your consoles back if you have handed them over to service centers.
ONLINE VIDEO TUTORIALS
Now, you don’t need to spend more money or wait weeks. There are online videos and repair guides available to repair the console on your own. These guides come with a video tutorial to explain how to proceed with the repair process. These videos will focus on the removal of the X-clamps. Since these clamps will block airflow to the processors, the heat sinks are attached without the clamps to the motherboard.
The problem is solved by yourself within an hour or two, so you don’t need to wait. Reboot your console once the repair is complete and you are now ready to play.
